What is Arithmetic Operators?

Arithmetic Operators are symbols that can be used to represent mathematical operations. The most common arithmetic operators are addition (+), subtraction (-), multiplication (*), and division (/).

These symbols are used for doing math on some numbers by following these steps:

  1. decide which operation you want to do first.
  2. write the first number “above” the symbol of the operation you want to use.
  3. write the second number on the “line” below the first one.
  4. do whatever is listed next!

In order for this process to work properly, it is important that all numbers be written using a numeral (1’s and 0’s). If any non-numerical values appear in your input, they will need to be replaced with a 0 before performing the arithmetic operation.

Arithmetic Operators can help make math a little bit easier! Although it may still be a little difficult to understand, the process for using them is really simple.

Just remember that if you want to do multiplication, have 2 numbers on top of each other with an * in between.

If you want to do division, have 2 numbers with a / in between. And don’t forget about parentheses! Without them, your arithmetic operation might not give you the answer you are looking for!
