Zed 1.10.3
Zed 1.10.3 just dropped and I have been testing it all morning. TL;DR: if you are using npm v12 and your language server kept ghosting you — this one is for you.
What Got Fixed
So here is the deal. npm v12 changed some internals and Zed's language server bootstrap was not vibing with it. Zed would start fine but then your TypeScript/Python/Rust LSP would just... not connect. Classic "works on my machine" energy, except it was "works on npm less than 12" energy.
The fix? One focused PR (#60870) that patches the language server startup handshake to handle npm v12's quirks. No more silent failures, no more restarting Zed three times hoping the LSP catches.
Why This Matters
If you upgraded to npm v12 (and honestly why wouldn't you — it ships with Node 26) and noticed your editor getting dumber, this is why. Zed's language server protocol implementation needed a tiny nudge to play nice with the new npm IPC layer. One line changes the world sometimes.
Should You Update?
Yes. Full stop. This is a pain-free upgrade — no breaking changes, no config migrations, no new hotkeys to learn. Just a smoother development experience if you are on the modern npm. Run your package manager, grab the update, and get back to coding.
Zed 1.10.3 is available now on the Zed website or through your package manager. If you have already upgraded, drop a comment and let me know if your LSP is finally behaving.
