VS Code now supports running subagents — model-powered processes that handle tasks like analysis and code generation. You can see a running subagent's model, elapsed time, and output. Agent host protocol support means Copilot, Claude, and Codex all work natively.

Hybrid Markdown Editor

Experimental. A new Markdown editor blends the source and preview views into one. Edit rendered output inline without switching tabs.

Speech Dictation

Dictate in chat, editors, and the terminal. No extra extension needed. It just works.
