Docker Desktop 4.84.0 has been released — the latest update brings important bug fixes, component upgrades, and platform-specific improvements across Windows and all supported systems.

Overview

Docker Desktop 4.84.0 was released on July 27, 2026. This is a maintenance-focused release that addresses several critical issues, updates bundled components, and removes deprecated features. The release is available for Windows, macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), and Linux platforms.

Component Updates

  • Docker Agent upgraded to v1.111.0
  • Kubernetes bundled cri-dockerd updated to v0.4.4
  • Docker Hardened Images CLI (dhictl) updated to v0.0.7
  • Docker Desktop CLI updated to v0.4.3

Bug Fixes and Enhancements

For All Platforms

  • Fixed: An invalid ~/.docker/config.json no longer causes Docker Desktop to hang with high CPU and memory usage. Docker Desktop now surfaces a clear error dialog prompting the user to correct the file.
  • Fixed: A bug that prevented some Docker Hardened Images customizations from being created successfully.
  • Fixed: Deleting an unrelated credential ID could accidentally erase Docker Hub OAuth tokens, causing unexpected sign-outs. This has been resolved.
  • Removed: Docker Scout CLI hints that appeared after running docker pull or docker buildx build commands have been removed, streamlining the terminal experience.

For Windows

  • Fixed: An empty or malformed install-settings.json on Windows no longer causes Docker Desktop to hang with high CPU/memory usage on startup.
  • Improved: The MSI installer now detects per-user Docker Desktop installations and blocks installation with a clear message naming affected users, preventing conflicts.
  • Fixed: Uninstalling Docker Desktop on Windows could permanently lock users out of their own application data directories if the deletion failed mid-way. This has been corrected.
