Zed 1.23.3
Zed 1.23.3 is out. Released October 12, 2026. It is a patch release for the current stable line. No new features. Six fixes and one telemetry addition.
What Changed
- Fixed an issue where no fonts would show for markdown preview configurations in the settings UI.
- Fixed edit predictions retaining single worktree files.
- Fixed the remote projects picker sometimes reserving more space than needed.
- Fixed the Threads Sidebar background color being transparent in some themes.
- Updated the bundled Node.js to the latest v24 LTS release.
- Added opt-in telemetry for the checkpointing feature in the Agent Panel. It does nothing with telemetry disabled.
Context
Zed 1.23.2 shipped five days earlier, on October 7. The two patches cover close to the same ground: the fonts bug in the markdown preview settings, edit predictions holding onto single worktree files, remote project picker sizing, the Threads Sidebar background, and the Node.js bump. 1.23.3 carries the same fixes forward for the stable channel.
The stable line follows Zed 1.22.0, released September 30, which was the substantive feature drop: BYOK support for GPT-6.1 Sol with an OpenAI API key, an optional model parameter for spawned subagents, subagent compaction, a unified and split toggle for diffs opened with zed --diff, dynamically fetched OpenCode model lists in place of a bundled list, and Grok 4.7 as the recommended default on the SuperGrok and xAI providers.
What It Means for You
If you are on the stable channel, this is a routine patch. Update and move on. If you were waiting on the fonts bug in the settings UI or the transparent Threads Sidebar in your theme, 1.23.3 has both.
Preview channel users are already ahead. Zed 1.24.1-pre and 1.24.2-pre both shipped ahead of this patch and include additional work: crash fixes for tab-indented code blocks, the remote projects picker sizing fix, and the Agent Panel checkpointing telemetry that is now visible in stable.
