What is Uizard?

Uizard is an AI-powered design tool created by Uizard Technologies, a company founded in Copenhagen by Tony Beltramelli with roots in MIT research on teaching machines to understand UI sketches. The idea is simple: you should not need design skills to see what your product could look like.

You describe an app in text, upload a photo of a hand-drawn wireframe, or take a screenshot of an existing app, and Uizard generates an editable mockup you can refine in its browser-based editor. It comes with templates, component libraries and theme tools that restyle a whole design in one click.

In June 2024 Uizard was acquired by Miro, the collaborative whiteboard company. The acquisition means Uizard's AI design capabilities are being woven into Miro's visual collaboration platform, while the standalone Uizard product continues to serve its own users.

Pricing and licensing

Pros and cons

Uizard's strengths are speed and accessibility. A product manager or founder can go from an idea to a shareable wireframe in minutes, the screenshot-to-design feature is genuinely impressive for teardowns, and the free plan lowers the barrier to trying it.

The limitations show up in detail work. Generated designs are starting points rather than finished products, and while you can edit them, you do not get the control of a professional tool like Figma. Teams building production design systems will outgrow it quickly.
