What is Substance 3D Painter?
Substance 3D Painter is the tool most game studios reach for when they need to texture a 3D asset. You import a model, and instead of painting on a flat image, you paint directly on the 3D surface with brushes, layers, masks and materials.
It started life as a product from Allegorithmic, the French company behind the Substance ecosystem, which Adobe acquired in 2019. Painter became the standard for PBR (physically based rendering) texturing because its live preview shows exactly how light reacts on your material, matching what you will get in Unity, Unreal or Blender.

How to get started
