Generate a Random Unique Alphanumeric String in PHP

A random string is a sequence of randomly chosen letters, numbers, or symbols. They are commonly used in security applications as passwords or cryptographic keys. In PHP, there are a few ways to generate a random string.

In this snippet, we will use a simple method to generate a random string with our defined set of characters. First, we will create a string containing all of the characters that we want to use. Next, we will shuffle the characters in the string. Finally, we will take a number of characters out to form our random string. By following these steps, we can easily generate a random string that meets our specific requirements.

$source = '0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ';
$source = str_shuffle($source);
$length = 8;
$randomString = substr($source,  0, $length);
